‘Down The Rabbit Hole’ is a videowork by year 10 students from Torpoint Community College, supported by artist Beth Emily Richards. The video responds to the online subculture of ‘reality shifting’, using this as a framework to discuss alternative realities, utopias, and social justice. We used creative games for the young people to first discuss ideas about what different worlds that they could imagine might look/feel/operate like, and to storyboard the video. They responded to the idea of the local filming (across the road in Antony House) of the film Alice In Wonderland, to come up with ‘Down The Rabbit Hole’, where each student used a tree in the school grounds as a portal to a new world. Through the project, the students learnt about filming, working with archival film, video editing, AI imagery, and graphic design.
