Passing the Parcel from MAYN Creative on Vimeo.
Passing the Parcel is an intergenerational, multi-disciplinary arts project between older people living with dementia and their carers and young children, pupils and students in Cornwall.
Ellie Robinson-Carter, a Creative Dementia Practitioner, is working with Poet and Creative Literacy Expert Sally Crabtree, to devise literacy and performing arts workshops involving innovative techniques such as edible poetry, instant song writing, book-making, and all sorts of imaginative making! The end result will be the creation of a huge Pass the Parcel that can be played by the whole community.
Part of the project has involved hosting an international conference called “Only Connect!”; a community symposium at Falmouth University where groups and organisations were invited to learn about and share in the magic of intergenerational practice for people living with dementia.
The Passing the Parcel project aims to unfold the layers that divide generations in a community, and will ultimately produce a world-leading, creative training package for care homes, schools and memory cafes to roll out. Through this ground-breaking work Cornwall will become a leader in creative intergenerational practice and research.
