The official 90th birthday of HM Queen offered an opportunity to commission a new composition for that most Cornish of institutions, the brass band, to celebrate her birthday. The award from FEAST will allow the new work to be commissioned and performed on the day.
The band of HMS Seahawk Volunteer Band of the Royal Naval Air Station Culdrose will perform a new piece, composed by Gareth Churcher, at a Dawn Concert on the King Harry Ferry at the invitation of the Directors and the Lord Lieutenant of Cornwall. The event will be an opportunity for the naval traditions of the Fal River to be celebrated with a request for a flotilla of vessels to parade at Dawn on her Majesty’s birthday in King Harry Reach. The Public will have free access to the slipway to listen to the concert which will also be supported by members of the Three Spires Singers.
