This autumn celebration of the rich heritage of herring fishing in the village of Port Isaac has involved many village organisations and linked into a close relationship to Kosovo. The result has been a wonderful community ‘SHOAL’ of fish .The fish are symbolically feeding a huge Pelican which is a symbol of the Balkans and represent how one community is nurturing and feeding into another. This has been installed in the church. .
Along side this was a community ‘Fish Pie ( PI)’ competition judged by local residents and restauranter Nathan Outlaw .This provided an opportunity for young and old to share and recreate a mass community Harvest lunch which links to lost traditions of the past .
Local film maker Hannah Backland has been commissioned to document the whole project in bite sized pieces which she will edit together to create a film. This will be donated to PISCES for their historical archives and will be a time piece showing the lives of the young and old in the village in 2017 .
