This community conservation, heritage and arts project culminates in a festival of digital sound, live performance and ceramics for Clay Country. In collaboration with Suzie West of SpinDrift Dance Collective, the Spring- Summer activities will be looking at future proofing Wheal Martyn and engaging new voices in Clay Country. ‘The Flock’, comprised of conservationists, digital sound artists, dancers, ceramicists, writers, historians and actors will be developing their own responses to Clay Country alongside community groups, schools, colleges, Wheal Martyn volunteers and apprentices. The stories, sounds, voices, imprints, movement and pictures co -created amongst the groups will be about the present Clay Country and the future. ‘Flock’ and the Silent Disco Murmuration will appear alongside all other co-creations in the Imprint Festival. The legacy of this project will train up Wheal Martyn Staff and volunteers to support digital performance in the future and tell the stories of women in Clay Country. The Flock, alongside Wheal Martyn and the RSPB will develop an education pack experience for Wheal Martyn that can be a bookable experience for new visitors and groups in the future, providing future employment and ongoing collaboration.
