Penance is greeting the arrival of the Man Engine on August 5th with a day of amazing celebrations including: the Mining Cart Soapbox Derby; the Man Engine Pz Heritage Hub; Town Trail; Steam Punk style Miners and Maids fashion challenge plus Promenade on the Prom; Pageant Wagons; a Steam Punk Ball and other night time events; street stalls, food market; music and street entertainment.
Man Engine arrives at 5pm
The highlight of the day! The Man Engine with his entourage of vehicles and people will crawl up Market Jew Street, to his position alongside Humphry Davy statue. A gathering of choirs and spectators will sing the special Man Engine songs to encourage him to stand up to his full height of over 40ft. He will meet with a 20ft high Humphry Davy and be given a specially made Davy lamp to add to his collection of mining-related gifts from his journey of discovery through Cornwall. Goldentree Theatre Company, who are creating the Man Engine, will deliver an amazing theatrical spectacle.
The day is supported by Pezance BID and organised by Pop Up Penzance. For more details
