Men Are Singing is a Cornish, all-inclusive, cross-generational male voice choir. The aim is for younger Cornish men to reclaim the tradition of group singing.
Mixed sex choirs in the county are successful, yet highly populated by women, who seem to find it easier to go out and participate with group activities. Men however, seem to need the lure of competition, financial gain or alcohol. But it wasn’t always this way; in an industrial and Methodist society, men regularly united in traditional activities such a singing, and in doing so achieved social and mental health benefits.
