As a celebration of the quarter of a century birthday of this great festival, Golowan have collected together the flags made in community workshops by the people of Penzance and wider Penwith over the last 25 years. With support from FEAST and Cornwall Community Foundation, the flags have been renovated and given a whole new lease of life. Over 400 flags flew along Penzance Prom on August bank holiday – the day of Newlyn Fish Festival, when thousands of people enjoyed the colourful spectacle out and about along the Prom.
This really is People’s Art – the designs, the wit and colour combinations displayed on these flags are stunning, and now the flags have been restored they are available for other events.
Golowan have also most generously donated their collection of artist made silk flags to FEAST, to lend out to other festivals across Cornwall.
