The Festival week celebrates the creative arts in the widest sense. This year’s theme ‘Peace Like a River Flows’ links with the centenary of the end of the First World War.
The Church is building a labyrinth in a part of the church as a community engagement in art project. In addition there will be a creative art project to encourage local people to be involved in building and experiencing this, led by local artist Kate Beesley. The week will include performance events, workshops, a community ‘drop in’ morning and support sessions for visitors with learning disabilities. An exhibition will run throughout the week.
In remembrance of the centenary if the Armistice of 1918 there will be an installation of a river of remembrance poppies with a rising stream of peace doves. This is a participatory installation where poppies will be dedicated to all known people of Redruth who lost their lives in the Great War. This will be in place and open for participation throughout the summer and autumn until after the Remembrance Ceremony in November 2018.
