An RAF drone pilot visits his rural childhood home for his sister’s wedding, following a recent and ill-executed mission. Holed up in his old tree-house he becomes aware of something impossible – that he’s turning into an owl.
Swivelhead is a visceral, black-humoured exploration of the ethical and personal consequences of a new age of warfare. Expect the usual Pipeline trademarks: knife-sharp script, puppetry, projection and an immersive soundscape.
The play has been developed based on research and testimony from ex-RAF and drone pilots, ex-soldiers dealing with PTSD, clinical therapists, and experts in the field of the ethics of drone warfare.
