In 1803 the East and West Looe Volunteer Artillery was established and kept in pay from Government for six years. During this time not one of the sixty to seventy men died, and they became known as the Looe Diehards.
The creation of two puppets, representing the Looe Diehards together with short stories based on the role and activities of the Looe Diehards will be at the centre of this project. The puppets will show the typical uniform of the Volunteer Artillery and will tell the stories related to their activities. Both the puppets and stories will be displayed in the museum and will be used by visitors to the museum and by a puppeteer with storytelling on selected days throughout the year.
