Sir James Smith Community College & Lighthouse Community Centre // Flowers & Food & To the Lighthouse!
‘Flowers and Food’ is an intergenerational project between Sir James Smith Community College in Camelford and Camelford Memory Cafe. Over 4 sessions, the year 9 pupils selected themes under which to take photographs and a creative activity to accompany it which was. These were: portraits, nature, flowers and food, scenery. For their third sessions, flowers and food, the students visited the memory cafe and made flower arrangements, whilst taking photographs. The photographs have been put into 4 photobooks which will be kept at the school in a red box, reflective of the school’s logo.
To the Lighthouse!’ involved working with the girls group at Liskeard’s Lighthouse Community Centre over 4 weeks, where the girls chose 4 themes under which to take photographs alongside 4 creative activities. These were: walking in the woods, teenage dream, murder mystery, patterns and colour. They decorated biscuits for a slumber party evening, took part in a murder mystery in the local woodland, painted a huge lighthouse and more. The result was an exhibition at the centre with their families, which includes prints, photobooks and a set presented in a blue box, reflective of their logo
